Bachelor of Interior Architecture (hons) University of South Australia
Nicole is a self taught artist who paints through intuition, drawing from her formal studies in design where she gained a sound understanding of colour, balance and form. After graduating in 2008, Nicole worked as an Interior Designer for an architecture firm in Adelaide for a number of years. Here she worked on both commercial and residential projects of varying size and budgets.
Nicole moved to Melbourne in 2011 and decided to turn her focus to art. She currently balances full time work in the property sector and paints in her spare time.
My work is influenced and inspired by emotion, memory, nature and landscape. It is an extension of who I am and my sensitive nature and I enjoy the hands on approach to the painting process. I am particularly interested in how my work resonates with different people and what energy my work can bring to others' interior spaces. My work is carefully considered, I never rush it for the sake of finishing something. Sometimes I let a piece rest for a few months and work on small elements at a time as other parts of the work reveal themselves and guide the next colour or brushstroke.
BEHIND THE NAME
Why Nicole Eliza? Nicole Miller is also the name of a famous fashion designer in the United States. Unfortunately this makes Nicole’s artwork almost impossible to find online. The domain name and social media handles were already taken, so the next closest and practical thing was to use a middle name.
2007 | Nicole's work was selected to represent the Uni SA Interior Architecture Students at the annual D.I.A Australasian Student Design Awards
2006 | Design Institute of Australia - Award of Merit for the South Australian Interior Design Student Awards in recognition of achieving outstanding design qualities.
