ABOUT
Nicole is a self-taught abstract artist based in the Barossa region of South Australia, painting intuitively from a place of genuine feeling. Her background in design and years spent working as an interior designer with an award-winning Adelaide architecture firm gave her a deep, practiced understanding of colour, balance and form. But it's her inner world, and the outer one she moves through, that truly drives her work.
Nature, emotion and lived experience are at the heart of everything Nicole creates. She's drawn to the essence of places - the colours of a landscape, the sound of the ocean, the quiet charm of a small town, the pull of somewhere remote and untouched. Her paintings are her way of holding onto those moments.
After eleven years living in Melbourne building her practice, Nicole returned to South Australia at the end of 2022 and has been working and exhibiting in the region ever since.
BEHIND THE NAME
Why Nicole Eliza? My name is Nicole Miller, but if you've ever searched for my art online, you may have discovered I share it with a famous American fashion designer.
To be distinctive and non-reflective of existing creatives, I carved out a space that’s unmistakably me, and used my middle name to create an artistic brand that reflects my personality and purpose.
